Description

This centrally located Federal wonder was wrapped roof to crawlspace in dingy sunshine yellow vinyl siding. I always shake my head in sad amazement when we come across a hundred year old brick house wrapped completely in siding. Not only am I offended by the design aesthetic, but I have a sneaky suspicion the early owners were conned out of hard- earned money for this unnecessary “protection” of their brick homes.

That said, this opportunity was one where we had a family needing to divest from the family home. They were referred to us by friends at Keller Williams, and both Dwayne and I both could see the potential for re-imagining. The house was in good condition, needing some basic common-sense energy efficiencies to be brought to bear. We ripped up the floors to insulate the crawl space, replaced the windows with charming black interior, black exterior Anderson windows taking advantage of the arched bay front originally designed- but covered with vinyl siding. We moved the kitchen into a more central location which would allow maximum circulation and open entertainment, expanded the first floor powder room to a full bath- which could provide shared living- and exposed the awesome brick. We brought in high-end finishes throughout, thinking one would appreciate some off-street secure parking, brought in secure garage parking.

Good design and great construction- all lead to a multiple offer selling frenzy where we were able to sell above list price- less than 7 days on the market!
